I always rent a car, but it’s a personal preference. Check the bus and train schedules to see if public transportation schedules would work with your itinerary.

Yes! As with @jaimeelsabio, we always rent a car because we enjoy the freedom and flexibility self-driving allows. Driving in Spain is straightforward, even for English-only speakers . If you exceed the speed limit, though, expect to receive a notice to pay the fine. For cities, scope out where to park in advance and leave the car until you are ready to move on. BTW, highly recommend the El Caminito del Rey. Enjoy!
