We are looking to travel in Spain next fall - probably second half of October/early November. Rather than heading to the Costa del Sol, we were thinking that we might look for beaches on either Costa de la Luz or Costa Almeria. Wondering if anyone can speak to pros/cons of one versus the other. Like to swim, sit in the sun a bit, but also just to walk, explore a bit. Thanks.
I'd love to hear some responses about this as well! We will be traveling in early October, and were considering the Costa Brava rather than the Costa del Sol. We really want a couple of days of beach and sand time during our trip, but it's been very hard to find any good information about which areas would be pleasant during that time of year.
It's getting a little late for swimming but the beaches are really nice along the Costa de la Luz. For exploring, there are miles of empty beaches with little to no services between Tarifa and Conil de la Frontera. Find a stretch of beach with coves or cliffs to yourselves and relax. Chiclana de la Frontera is bigger and the beaches reminded me of San Diego (not crowded but nice neighborhoods and restaurants nearby).
I haven't been to Almeria, it's possible the water may be warm enough for swimming later in the year on that side.
