We are planning to drive from Granada up Costa Blanca to Valencia and then Barcelona. Would appreciate any advice on routes/hotels and any tips you may have along the coastline. We are all set for Valencia and Barcelona. Thank you!

Haven't driven that coast since about 2000, but you pretty much have to take the AP-7/E15 (toll road) or the N332 along the coast. One is an interstate, the other will take you through the small towns. Benidorm is very popular. That whole coast is busy with tourists during the summer, so there's plenty of traffic congestion in the towns.
Route - Granada to Lorca, to Murcia, to Alicante, then up the coast. In 2014, we left Granada and headed south and over to Almeria, then Lorca, etc. At Murcia we cut back north to Cuenca rather than doing to coast.

thanks for your advice...we will be driving next week so hope the traffic wont be as bad as high season.
