Corpus Christi in Toledo?

We just noticed that Corpus Christi is on June 15 and that we could plan our trip around going there if we wanted. We’re wondering how crowded it would be. Could we see the festival if we just took a day trip from Madrid? If we wanted to spend the night in Toledo, do hotels book up months in advance? Is it difficult to find a good spot to view the procession?

In 2015 we were in Toledo for Corpus Christi. Purely by coincidence. We were told about the festival while we were in Madrid. It sounded very interesting. So when we arrived in Toledo we asked the hotel about reservations. The told us to go to the Plaza Zocadora and make them. For about 50 euros we got two reserved seats along the route. On the day the locals were very helpful in making sure that we got the most of the show.

So spend the night the night before in Toledo and make a reservation for seats along the route. This was a highlight of our trip to spain. There are all sorts of groups in the procession. This was when we learned that the Spanish Army still goose steps!
