Cordoba where to Stay?

Hi everyone,
I'm going to be in Cordoba Spain over Christmas. We are wondering if anyone has stayed at the Europcar Conquisdor.
It seems to be in amazing locaton and good value.
Will be there 4 nights. We typically like to stay in homeaway properties but didn't see much for this area like in some others. We are open to suggestions. Thank you!

Clearly, no one has stayed there. I am staying central, but in a Hostal on the other side of the Mesquita and only for 2 days. The city isn't that big. I might expand your circle of consideration for a short let. If over Christmas, you will be dealing with trying to find meals where as an apartment gives you alternatives. Of course, plenty of tourists travel over key Christmas days so there must be food, but it is one extra hassle I wouldn't want (for 4 days I do short let apartments too)
If Eurostar Conquistador fits the bill, it seems to get 4 star reviews, so go for it.

Thank you for your reply.
I was reading past threads and saw the Hesperia Cordoba Hotel.
We typically do homeaway but didn't see much in this city.

Do you mean Eurostars Conquisdor? The location is across the street from the Mezquita. If you're facing the street, it might be pretty noisy, with lots of shops and tourists below. Other than that, you can't get more central. The Hesperia is on the other side of the river, a lot quieter and a 10-minute walk across the bridge. Also good.

I don't know if you have to worry about restaurants. Easter is a bigger holiday than Christmas. I was there on Easter Sunday last year and worried that restaurants would be closed. Turns out, it's one of their biggest days of the year - all the locals want to eat out, so maybe Christmas is the same.

My mom & I stayed at Hesperia Córdoba NH Hotel across the river. The hotel was nice & comfortable, and it offered a delicious hearty buffet breakfast at an extra cost.

Just make sure you don't get a room on the 3rd floor (below the terrace) because you'll get much noise from the terrace restaurant/bar. There doesn't appear to be much insulation between the room ceiling and the terrace floor.

This hotel has a small pool (on one side of the terrace) and it was very refreshing to go in for swim after a day of sightseeing.

It appears that the hotel has recently changed its name to NH Córdoba Guadalquivir. If you join their rewards program (free), you'll receive a 5% discount on all your bookings.

Enjoy your time in Spain!

In 2016 i had a wonderful stay in an apartment at "Mi Casa en Córdoba", a lovely old residence very, very near the Mesquita, plenty of shops and restaurants, plus a small grocery store, nearby, very friendly owners who used to run a ceramics business, plus an English-speaking staff person. I loved it, check it out!
PS: this is listed, and very highly rated, on Booking.com.

I stayed here on my most recent trip to Cordoba in October 2016 - NH Cordoba Califa at Lope de Hoces, 14. It was clean, spacious. and reasonably economical. It's not directly in the tourist area (about a 10 minute walk) so it gives you an opportunity to see the other side of Cordoba. Many, many eating and drinking facilities are nearby, including the Victoria Marketplace.

Our last visit there in 2011 we stayed at Hotel Albucasis in the historic center. The location was good. The hotel was adequate but nothing fancy.

We stayed at one of Rick's recommendations, La Llave de la Judería, in the old quarter. It was great and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it or to stay there again. The proprietor was very helpful and kind and the location was terrific--also the rooms were immaculate and quiet and the beds comfortable.
