Córdoba to Tangier

Have made a study of the transport options and route for this. We are presuming we travel by bus to Algeciras or Tarifa, and ferry to Tangier.

We want to make sure we arrive right in Tangier, but ferry options are numerous.

So question is should we leave from Algeciras or Tarifa, and how do we make sure we arrive in Tangier town.

We would really appreciate some suggestions.

Margaret,

I've not traveled to Tangier but have done a bit of research in the past.
It looks like you can travel from Córdoba to Algeciras via train ( travel time 3-4 hrs), then you'd need to take a bus to Tarifa, where you can then take the ferry to Tangier.

It will be a very long travel day.

I think the better ferry options are from Tarifa.
Looking at the departures offered by this company, and I'm not sure if there are others.

Departure times offered are more convenient, as well as a more central docking location in Tangier (Ville). That's how I read the information offered at least.

Hi Margaret
we are also doing a trip to Tangier and I have spent hours doing research. We are going from Tarifa-Tangier-Ville, this is right in the center. NOT Tangier Med. from Algeciras that is 30 km away. Our b&b is Dar Chams Tanja and they also helped me. Today I have spent hours on this ferry stuff. FRS is the one we will use, because Intershipping is a Morocco company and not reliable per tripadvisor reviews. FRS has its issues too , but seems to be the best bet. Also, note in the research, they are not timely, 30-40 min delays often. We are also using a bus so its important to leave LOTS of time. The passport control on the outbound is in the ferry and if a line forms get in it but make sure to get the passport form near cafe near cash register and make sure passport is stamped before Tangier. This is all the items I have read today. Hope this helps. I use this forum alot. Ken saved us on the Italy trip with his knowledge. FRS.es, You can buy tickets at counter too.

Also worth noting, if the water is too rough, the ferries will not run. I learned the hard way and ended up scrambling to reschedule things at the last minute.
