Cordoba to Granada, Bus or Train??

Hi All, Would appreciate some feedback travelling from Cordoba to Granada, ( 2 seniors ). After 3 days in Cordaba, 24th May we head to Granada. There are no direct non-stop trains!. You have to change trains.!! The other option is the Bus, "ALSA", probably takes a little longer, but once your luggage is on-board, just sit and enjoy the ride, and we can book on-line and pick your seat!!. What is best option??????

Do all the buses have toilets?????. "ALSA" website is not clear about on-board toilets . I suppose all the trains have toilets??.

Trains on that run will have toilets. Trains without toilets are rare to non-existent, I think.

The bus might or might not have a toilet, but even if it has one, it may be kept locked. The usual procedure is for the bus to stop every 2 to 2-1/2 hours at a spot (often not a bus station) that has nice, clean restrooms and place for people to buy quick snacks. The stop is also a smoking break.

I agree that luggage is a bit easier to manage on buses. Still, changing trains will not be a problem unless you have mobility limitations or heavy/bulky luggage. I think, though, that the Cordoba/Granada trip currently is partly made by bus because of construction on the rail line.

John,

My mom ( 85+) and I took the ALSA bus from Córdoba to Granada in October 2015.

  • All ALSA buses have toilets. You can check by clicking on the ticket class (Normal, Supra Economy, etc...) when checking schedules on the ALSA website (to the left of the dog & bicycle icons)

  • Travel time is around 2hrs,45 minutes.

  • The bus had comfortable seats and A/C.

  • You have to place your luggage in the hold below before boarding the
    bus.

  • We purchased our tickets at the bus station in Córdoba, a couple of days before
travel, but you may certainly book them in advance online if you so choose.

  • We took a taxi from the Granada bus station to our hotel in the city center and paid around €8 - €10.

  • There are more time options for the bus than for the train.

You can take the train on this route, but you'll have to transfer to a bus at Antequera Santa Ana station, due to the railroad work in progress (since April 2015!)

Have you booked your Alhambra tickets?

Have a wonderful trip!
