Cordoba - ticket time slots for Mezquita & Alcazar gardens

The calendar has finally opened, and I can now select my timed tickets for the Mezquita-Catedral de Córdoba! I could use some advice on planning my visit.

I’ll arrive in Córdoba on a Thursday afternoon (check-in is at 3:00 pm) and have one full day the following day, Friday. I’m trying to figure out the best timing for visiting the Mezquita as well as the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos gardens, since the building itself is currently closed for renovations. I’ll keep checking in case that changes, but from what I’ve read, the gardens are the real highlight.

Here’s what I’m considering -
Option 1 – Thursday afternoon arrival:Visit the Mezquita from 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm
Bell tower from 6:30 pm to 7:00 pm (I’ll be about a 9-minute walk from my accommodation)
If I want more or the crowds are heavy, I could also do the free entry on Friday morning (8:30–9:20 am) and then head to the Alcázar gardens. This would leave the rest of Friday to explore Córdoba.

Option 2 – Friday morning: Free Mezquita entry at 8:30–9:20 am with visit to the Alcázar gardens afterward. It would be too late to head to the Mezquita then, so I'd save the timed Mezquita visit for the 3:30pm-6pm&6:30pm for the bell tower.

The trade-off seems to be if I do everything Friday morning, I'll miss the Alcázar gardens, but if I spread it across Thursday and Friday, I could balance both the gardens and the Mezquita without rushing.

I’d love to hear what others think. Thanks in advance

I'm assuming Cordoba isn't your first landing point in Europe, so you won't be jetlagged when you arrive on Thursday. In that case, I'd plan the Mezquita for Thursday afternoon in hopes of having a good chunk of time left on Friday, after the Alcazar. There's a lot more to see in Cordoba, and you can usually organize your sightseeing more efficiently when you have a single, larger block of time as opposed to multiple, smaller bits and pieces.

I always feel a strong sense of accomplishment when I knock off an important sight or two the day I arrive in a new city, because I pretty much discount travel days in figuring how much time I need to see things on my target list.

Acraven, thanks for the advice! It definitely confirms what I was already leaning toward. No jet lag, I'll be arriving in Cordoba after 3 nights in Seville.
