We will be in Cordoba in a few weeks celebrating our son's birthday. His favorite is a great steak. I have the RS Spain book of suggested restaurants but I wanted to ask if anyone had other suggestions or any experience with having a great steak. My daughter in law is a vegetarian so I also need to make sure she has an option. We will be in Andalucía for 19 days so we will have plenty of tapas. I was looking for a sit down restaurant (in my moms eye a table cloth and wine).
My wife and I had dinner in Cordoba in Sep, at Patio Romano. Though they have steak (Grilled Black Angus Sirloin) on the menu on their website, we had several other items (some from the seasonal menu not listed on their website) instead: all were excellent with very fresh ingredients. The service, atmosphere, and recommended wines were very good. The name of the restaurant comes from an inscribed centuries-old Roman pillar found on the site; it now stands in the restaurant next to a fountain.
A link to the restaurant is in our trip report on the RS Forum (part 5):

French Entrecôte is ubiquitous in Spain these days but the best steaks in Spain come from the Galicia region in north of Spain called "Rubia Gallega". Also don't discount pork "steaks" in Spain they are as high quality as beef steaks and really melt in your mouth, if you see Secreto Ibérico (Iberian Secret) order it!
Secreto Ibérico is often grilled or pan-seared and is served with simple seasonings to allow the quality and flavor of the meat to shine. It's a delicacy in Spanish cuisine, known for its juiciness and delicious, unique flavor profile.
Thank you. Patio Romano has good reviews and looks like just what i was looking for. Booked a table.
Thank you for the reminder of Rubia Gallega. My husband loved that on our trip through Galicia in 2019. One of our all time favorite trips.
