Cordoba in February 2025

My hubby and I are staying in Madrid for a week. I'm planning 2 day trips: one to Toledo, the other to Cordoba.

It's a 2 hour train ride (we already have tickets). I'm wondering about the walkability of the city? Can we hike it from the train station to the Mezquita easily enough? Google Maps tells me it's about 23 minutes, but are there sidewalks? Is it a comfortable walk? Or busy, highway-type roads?

Thanks, and any other general advise about the city is welcome! We are looking forward to the Roman Bridge and the tower. Eating at the very recommended Regadera and if time visiting the Palacio Viana.

We almost always walk from train stations to city center and that was the case for Cordoba. The walk was relatively flat and I recall sidewalks. However, I really think you will be short on time in Cordoba, especially with your list of things do. We spent 3 nights. You may want to think about a cab. However, I don't always find cabs faster for short distances.

I did the walk to the Mezquita from the train station in March 2024. Sidewalks, some of the walk is through a park, no incline of concern. Very comfortable walk.

There were a number of taxis by the train station also in my experience if that suits you better.

We were just there a few days ago, and took the train to Cordoba. As we only had 6 hours there we didn't waste time walking from the train station, the first half is an uninteresting walk, and a taxi got us there in 7 minutes and cost 5 euro. Took us to the door of the Mezquita. We walked our feet off afterwards. Would recommend doing a "free" walking tour of Cordoba, and also seeing the Patios if you wanted to do that, before 2pm. We really wanted to see them but we got there at 2.30 and they were all closed for siesta from 2 -5pm.
We then took the 5.45 train to Madrid and on to Toledo, and stayed the night and the whole next day, absolutely loved it!

I dragged my roller suitcase from just near the Mezquita to the Cordoba train station. There were little narrow sidewalks in the old town area, not always wide enough for the suitcase, so I walked in the bumpy, cobbly streets. About 1/3 of the way there it became smoother, wider sidewalks.

Without the suitcase, it would have been cobbly, but no trouble.
