Any suggestions for a centrally located hotel for one person that is not expensive.
We stayed at Hotel Mezquita. Quirky, modest property, modestly priced. It is about 10 feet from the Mezquita. We found it very convenient. May have been in the RS guide.
I stayed at Hotel Eurostars Maimonides facing the Mezquita. There are probably less expensive places but this was reasonable for a March trip.
We stayed at Hotel Eurostar Conquistador which also faces the Mezquita. Great location and good breakfast. Great service as well. We arrived early at 10 am and they graciously allowed us to check in to our room! This was April of last year.
I stayed in a hotel a few blocks from the train station. It was inexpensive but fairly nice. Then it was about a 20 minute walk to the Roman bridge, mosque, etc. That area is cute but pretty touristy, and I had an expensive tourist dinner there. However, nearer to the train station I discovered the real town where real people go - they had a huge shopping area with a lot of people. Overall, it was ok, but I don't feel the need to go back there.
Take a look at Hotel Viento 10. Not fancy, but we enjoyed our stay there last September. The owner was super nice, breakfast was good and restaurant recommendations were excellent.
