We will be spending 3 days in Cordoba in May and wondering what, in addition to the Mezquita Cathedral, you would recommend. Thanks
We enjoyed the gardens of the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos more than the Mezquita; we were there on a sunny late December day.
Medina Azahara is located just outside the city. It was a large complex and the summer home of the caliph. When we were there, quite a few years ago, the excavations were at an early stage; but I believe there has now been a lot of restoration. Strongly recommend a visit.
If you are horse lovers, perhaps see an equestrian show in Cordoba. I ran out of time in Cordoba so do not have first hand knowledge but the show looks like a nice event to experience. Here is a link to the school
We spent 4 nights in Cordoba last Nov. and enjoyed it very much. Besides the Mezquita (which is fantastic) we also enjoyed the following:
Walking over the Roman Bridge in the evening. The view back to the illuminated city at night is stunning!
Visiting Cordoba's pretty patios. We bought a ticket that let us enter some of the award winning patios in people's homes.
Wandering through the Jewish quarter stopping for a look into the small, beautiful synagogue.
Lunch in the modern city with a visit to Plaza de Tendrillas. Rick includes a walking tour for the modern city in his Spain guidebook.
A visit to the Julio Romero de Torres museum. A small and intimate museum focusing on the artwork of Cordorba's own Julio Romero de Torres.
Take the short drive out of town to visit Medina Azahara (already mentioned) and Castillo Almodovar del Rio. The small bullfighting museum was very nice.

Thanks! You all are just the best!
