I've been to some of those locations and they are good, but there are thousands of great neighborhoods in the world that are cool.
LA is not so cool anymore due to being overrun with homeless people. NYC is not what it once was.
Once we get past the coronavirus, cities will return to their normal states, including NYC.
Congratulations Enric on making the top of the list. And what an interesting and diverse list it is.
I have only visited 19 of the 40 cities listed. Strangely, with the exception of the Prague neighborhood, I wouldn't have chosen the particular ones selected in the article. I have no issue with the cities, mentioned, but, for example, I think there are "cooler" neighborhoods in Barcelona than Esquerra de l’Eixample.
Maybe I'm not as "cool" as I thought. (Everyone tells me that.)

is that the Empire State or have they gone indie?
Way to go!! Lots of cool neighborhoods listed, but you are entitled to brag about your beloved Barcelona! Fond memories of Barcelona. I miss the people, attractions, cuisine & the taste of a delicious Sangria! Thanks for sharing Enric. Stay well. Salud!
It's quite strange, maybe I don't pay enough attention. I've lived in two of those cities - I've visited several others - and I don't recognise any of those neighbourhoods with the exception of Soho, London.
I've been touting for the Haut Marais and for Lavapies here on the RS forum for a few years already, so now I suppose it's gone too far and I'll have to change my tack.
And in Oakland we use the label Temescal rather than Ghosttown, out of respect for the great loss.

Wasn't it Billy Joel who sang: "I'm in a New York state of mind?"
I'm feeling extra-hip tonight since we stayed in the Lavapies neighborhood in Madrid as well as the Eixample in Barcelona!
Wonderful to read your post!
A year ago you helped us navigate Barcelona after the Spainish police invaded and still grateful for your help.
Be well!
Houghton, Michigan (Upper Peninsula) is a cool place. It's so cool - in Winter, it's downright freezing!
(Just joking with you.)
