Hi,
I am looking at Cook and Taste Barcelona and Barcelona Cooking.
Has anyone taken a class with either of these places?
We are planning to do the market tour at La Bouqueria and then cook.
Thank you for your input.
Phyllis
I took the class at Cook and Taste back in 2010. We made a tomato bread, tortilla, paella, crema catalana and one or two tapas. The class is geared towards novice cooks and many of the people in the class had little cooking experience. It was a fun class with plenty of food and wine and I enjoyed it.
It might be worth looking into Marta's Private Paella Cooking Classes as well. I haven't done it (yet!) but it's top rated on Trip Advisor. Plus, it seems paella could be challenging enough that it would help to have a great teacher.
It's worth noting that paella doesn't originate in Barcelona, it comes from Valencia, but since Valencia is close (just the next province south, it shares many cultural and linguistic traditions with Catalonia) and paella is very tasty, I would consider this a worthy exception to my usual "eat local" rule.
¡Buen provecho!
Hi, Yes, Marta's class looks great and you get to eat outside on her terrace.
I have to admit though that I love Creme brulee and the Catalan creme looks like
that, and I really want go where we can make that too. Plus I want to go to the market,
even though I know it costs a bit more. Thank you for your suggestion!
