Connecting via Madrid SAME TERMINAL from USA to Canary Islands

Norwegian Air has a flight from Boston to Grand Canaria with a 1 hour layover in Madrid. As best as I can tell we'd land in, and then depart from, Terminal 2. Will this be enough time?

I'm concerned that we may have to clear Customs and Immigration and would miss our connection. While I understand that the airline may be obligated to put us on the next available flight, Norwegian doesn't run another one until the next day and that would mean missing a full day of the trip.

If it makes a difference, we don't plan to check bags and will instead be traveling with packs (i.e. not rolling bags and can move a little quicker if necessary!)

Immigration( passport control) will occur in Madrid. Norwegian seems to think it can be done as that is how they sell it.

I would ask the airline about "what if"
