I have two flight tickets that are bought “SEPARATELY” one is from Air France from CDG connecting to a Cathay Flight in BCN, both flights are for T1 in BCN.
The following are my questions as I am not familiar with flight transfers:
• can Air France do a through check on the baggage
• if not, do I need to clear customers, get my luggage and do check in again?
• my connecting has 4 hours would that be enough?

I can’t answer your question regarding your luggage. Last May I found both CDG and BCN airports to be operating quite efficiently. However, I do have a similar situation scheduled for later this year. I’ll land at FCO (Rome), clear immigration and customs, retrieve my checked luggage (unless I opt for a carryon), then checkin for a flight on another airline. I’ve allowed five hours in between. Although the two airlines are SkyTeam partners I’ve elected to not look into them handling my luggage. I’ve never done this before but it was the only option to reach my destination without arriving at midnight.
