We will be traveling from La Linea de Compostela to Seville in May. The most direct connection is by Comes bus with a 4 hour ride. Is a Comes bus OK? Safe? Should we look at other alternatives that will take longer with transfers? Thanks.
Spain is one of the countries in Europe with a lower index of crime. There are no no-go areas (except maybe certain suburbs in very specific major cities) or any transportation service that would be unadvised. And just to point out -for those unaware- there are no gun or gang problems here... in short, feel free to roam at your will, it's mostly safe.
PS: Yet apply common sense, huh?, this is not paradise either, lol!
"La Linea de Compostela"
If you have trouble finding more information, note that it's La Línea de la Concepción. There is also another city, Santiago de Compostela, but that is at the other end of Spain!
Yes, long distance buses in Spain are much nicer than, say, Greyhound in the US (you get a reserved seat). Because the high speed train system is minimal, and even regular trains are not as extensive as in some other European countries, buses fill in the gaps; they're not just for the "wrong crowd" like in some places.
Thanks Harold and Enric for the encouraging words about the Comes bus system. We will take it and make sure to bring some snacks and go to the bathroom right before we get on because I have read from someone that they had to beg the bus driver to stop long enough to "go".
Oh, and I did realize as soon as I sent the message that I made the mistake about "concepcion" and "compostela". Too late at night after some good red wine!
