Planning a visit of about seven days. Start and end in Madrid, two nights Valladolid, two nights Salamanca. Should I see Burgos or Leon in between? I've seen Avila and Segovia before. I like museums and architecture.

I have the same likes as you and did both Burgos and Leon. I would choose Leon. Burgos is all the Cathedral and very commercial. Leon has the cathedral but is also an interesting city. Reminded me a little of Granada. If you can plan to be there on a Saturday night there is a free light show on the exterior of the Basilica that covers the history of Spain and is both fun and interesting. Check if it is on Friday or Saturday. My recollection is it's on a Saturday.

I don't think you would want to miss Burgos. We stayed in Salamanca, Valladolid and Burgos. We might not have stayed in Valladolid - because Salamanca and Burgos aren't too far apart - but we castle hopped the area (Coca, La Mota, Penafiel) so didn't travel far. Leon and Zamora were both places we would have liked to stop but only had so much time to see the area.
