It won’t be open for visits again. In 2016, the City Hall decided not to renew its license as a public site due to costly renovation requirements the owners were unwilling to implement. Among these requirements was the addition of a wheelchair-accessible ramp at the main entrance, in line with city regulations for public sites. However, this conflicted with national regulations from the Catalonia heritage department, which protects the architectural elements of the building. Faced with this Catch-22 situation and the high costs of finding a viable solution, the owners, Grupo Planeta—a major publishing group—decided to discontinue its use as a museum and repurpose it as office space, its current function.
