Casa Batilo & Montserrat on 1 day?

Is it possible to visit Casa Batilo @ 8:30 for an hour (or so) and then train to Montserrat afterwards?

This would be on a Sunday. Casa Batilo offers an 8:30 time prior to opening for those who want to do some photography....without so many people 😀

Too much to do on a Sunday (or any day) to make it meaningful?

Thoughts?

Without taking pictures I spent at least 90 minutes at Casa Batllo. I used the audio guide; if you just want to look, not listen, that might speed you up a bit--photography aside, of course. Taking advantage of the early time slot is a very good idea, because Casa Batllo really packs people in, and you'd have a very difficult time getting pictures during the regular hours except on the roof.

I didn't have time to get to Montserrat on my 2016 trip, but I suspect you can make this happen. See what Enric says. I know that the train departs from the rail station at Placa d'Espanya, which you can reach easily by Metro. On the day I passed through there, a uniformed rail employee was helping people buy tickets at the vending machines. I think it's a combo deal that covers more than just the train, and you have a choice to make about the last leg. Review the material in your guide book so you know your preference. Be sure you know what you are buying; it is probably a round-trip ticket, so don't buy another one at Montserrat to get back to Barcelona!

Aghhh... just saw this post now. I've replied John in a PM. Too bad RS doesn't allow to see "sent messages", I could have copy&pasted the reply here for others to see. Still, in short, you'll be arriving at the monastery in Montserrat by 1ish at the earliest -assuming you leave Casa Batlló by 10:45 tops. Yet I would do it, why not? You still have a few hours -until 6ish to enjoy there (or later if you like). And as a photographer, a sunset in Montserrat, at the top of the mountain or even from the monument of Ramon Llull, not far from the monastery, is a worthwhile experience!

PS. I don't remember if you mentioned the date of this itinerary, but I am assuming Spring, if in Summer then sunset is far later!

Thanks Ann! I remember you had not made it to Montserrat so I did not PM you. Nevertheless.....THANKS for the help. Hearing from a Barcelona Alumni is always reassuring. John.
