Cartegena

Ok, this is now an official cruise port. We are going to walk to the Roman ruins and museum but, is there anything else we can get to easily from the pier? Any must see shops or walkable sites? Not much is written about this city.

just walk and see....i was there 2 years ago and the city itself look little abandonded.... (almost like this topic ;-)

it looks like that there is big unemployment over there and the only people that are still there are olds, disabled or ....you name them.

anyway, it is a nice place to see ! quiet and has its charm :)

We have the same ship stop for the day. Some people from the ship are doing a private excursion that includes Murcia with Cartegena. I thought I'd shop for some olive oil after seeing the Cartegena sights. I hope someone can give more info on the town, sights, and shops--and info on a good oil to buy.

Thanks Harold. The CC link really helped. One post led to Toms Port Guides, tomsportguides.com -- a very complete, free guide to Cartagena and many more.

Bets: Glad I was able to help, even if indirectly.

The Toms port guides are exactly what I was looking for in Cartegena. Now I'll just have to look for something similar for the Canary Islands.
