Car Rental Navigation/Google Maps & Water Activites

Hello,

Anyone have experience driving in the south of Spain using a rental cars navigation and/or Google Maps? How accurate were either one and how is the connectivity? We are driving from Madrid to Granada to Sevilla back to Madrid.

Also, any recommendations on either kayaking or catamaran tours in or near any of the 3 cities we will be staying in (Madrid, Granada, Sevilla).

Thank you, Ann

I've driven in many remote areas through Europe and have pretty much always relied on Google Maps. Google Maps has always been accurate and gotten me to where I wanted to go.

Plus, I like using GMaps because I can plot out my route ahead of time. Sometimes I like searching for interesting things to see along the way, and sometimes I just want to avoid single-track or very rural roads. So it's helpful for me to use the app, and I've never changed to anything else.

Ditto Mardee’s comment. I’ve used Google maps extensively in Spain with no issues. In the event I come across a very remote area with no cell coverage, I also have maps downloaded for offline use.

I too map my route beforehand and mark the places I want to stop and visit and lodgings. I also mark parking areas, laundromats, and ATMs so I don’t have to look for them upon arrival in a place.
