Would like current info for renting car in Seville. When I search the forum much seems outdated. WE will be 5 adults traveling from Seville to Malaga. We will use car to travel the south region. Will have car approx 5 days. Will return car to malaga airport. Specifically would like to know of experience with rental companies and if additional insurance is necessary. WE are from New York. WE have already gotten our International Licenses. We just need to rent! Thank you
When you do a search on this web site, you can limit the results to the Travel Forum, if you wish, and from there can limit the time period, as well, e.g., to a year or 6 months.
Nobody seems to ever really love a car rental agency, so all of them get complaints. www.autoeurope.com is a USA consolidator that will help you search several major rental agents for availability in both locations. Many of us use them and some use other search engines.
See a summary of insurance from Rick at https://www.ricksteves.com/travel-tips/transportation/car-rental-cdw and from Auto Europe at http://www.autoeurope.com/insurancedetail.cfm.
I always rent from Avis, but that's a personal choice and not because I've had a bad experience with another company. Liability insurance in mandatory in Spain and should be included in the price of the rental. In addition to the CDW that comes with your credit card, we always get separate CDW from another company for $9 a day just to make sure there is plenty of coverage. Keep in mind that trunks and storage space in European cars is generally less than U.S. vehicles so carry smaller suitcases if possible. Also, if more than one person (is listed as a driver on the contract) there will be an additional daily charge for each additional driver.
Hi Jamie
I was wondering about Avis. When I look at Avis Europe it seems the rates for a VW Touran Van would be approx 195. for 5 days plus taxes and fees for a total of 264 making the rental 459. So I looked at what is included and what is offered and there appears to be nothing more than taxes, one way drop off fee. So they offere LDW (Loss damage waiver) and PAI (Personal accident ins). So what exactly to you reserve and what coverage. I have been reading a lot and have to admit a bit of confusion. We will most likely have 2 drivers.
