Car rental from San Pedro del Pinatar to Malaga

Hello,

We are spending a week in San Pedro del Pinatar then planning on renting a car to spend a week sightseeing around Malaga. Any tips on the best city to get the rental from? I found decent pricing at the Murcia train station but can’t find info on transportation to get there.

Are taxis fairly affordable to get to Murcia or Cartagena?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Your options appear limited. I have no idea what a taxi would cost. If you needed to take public transportation, Cartagena is closer. To get to Murcia using public transportation everything I saw shows one needs to go through Cartagena.

Not knowing what you planned to do in San Pedro, how you’re getting to it, or time of year, check out rental car prices from wherever you’re landing. They might not be as bad and you could take day trips to different locations from San Pedro de P. Unless you’re visiting friends or family, I can’t imagine there being a lot to do there, especially if it’s off season. The town isn’t that large.

Thanks for the response! We are heading there in October flying to Alicante and will be part of a large group with planned activities so a car won’t really be needed the first week. But will definitely check into rental pricing from Alicante just in case.

Cartagena would be more convenient but I’m not sure there would be as many car rental options.

I looked on Google maps and in Cartagena’s train station or across the street are Enterprise, Alamo, and National. Avis and Europcar are a few blocks away.

Car rentals are typically cheap in Spain in the off-season. An extra week of car rental starting in Alicante is likely to cost the same as a taxi ride to Murcia.
