Car Rental Comparison

We will be renting A van in Spain. Looks like my main option is a VW Touran. Can anyone compare this van to a US van. I have tried to find comparisons on line and have been unsuccessful. Just want to make sure it can hold 5 of us and luggage.

My experience has been to try and keep your baggage to a minimum and your vehicle as small but as comfortable as possible, European streets especially in the large cities are painfully narrow. Our family of 5 managed on a road trip in central Sweden to Stockholm in a Citroen in which we each had one carry on bag. Hope this helps. : )

do a search for 'vw touran' and you will find many links that will lead you to a spec sheet

its about 179 inches long-- about the same size as a mazda cx-5 or about 4 inches longer than a vw tiguan

seating for 5-- luggage capacity depends on how much everyone brings. luggage likely to be visible in the van, so security is a consideration

I agree with the other comments; keep luggage to a minimum so it can remain out of sight. Not sure where you'll be going, but many streets are narrow and can be difficult to maneuver in certain places, e.g., don't even attempt to drive a van in the historic area of Toledo. Also, older parking garages in Spain were not made for today's vehicles so check out any garage before deciding to enter it.

We are five adults. I am trying to go with smallest that will accommodate us. We will each have an 21 or 24" piece of luggage back pack. Will be picking up in Seville and driving to Malaga we are not planning on driving In Seville, Toledo, etc. Just the southern white villages. Thank you

Normal driving outside of cities won't be a problem as the roads are very good. The interstates are modern. It's really only some small towns and historic areas of the cities where the roads can be very narrow. I always have a rental car in Spain and have seldom come across a road too narrow to drive on. On a few occasions there were only inches to spare, literally, but I made it.
