I am wondering if I see the mesquite in Cordoba in the morning of one day, can I get transportation to Toledo to arrive in the afternoon, spend the night, then tour Toledo the next morning?

Absolutely! But probably not direct. The most efficient way is to take the high speed AVE train from Cordoba to Madrid Atocha Station (about 2 hours). Then catch the next commuter train from Atocha to Toledo (about 30 minutes).

Yes, you can. I just did it. Took the train from Toledo to Cordoba, direct. Look at Renfe website

Thanks again for the info. In the end it was too much running around and we stuck with Toledo. That leaves Cordoba for the next time! I tell my kids it's good to have something waiting for you ...
