can you tell give me the names of a few hostels in or near La rambla Barcelona

Hello,
1) WHERE TO STAY?? Can you please give me a few recamendations of a good Hostel in or near La Rambla Barcelona? I havent been there in 11 years and cant remember where I stayed. Many times the hostels decieve you a little with how close they are to "the action" and/or the safety of the location. So I am looking for a place that is 3 star ( ish), somewhat clean, relatively safe, good centrally located and has single rooms. It doesnt have to be fancy or a overly big room. I am looking at $80 top $120 a night. Thank you in Advance, Mark

2) I am flying in to Barcelona on May 5th for 2 nights and then going to Besalu and Pals for 3 nights. I would come back to barcelona on Thurs May 10th for 2 nights ( I have a flight booked to leave out of barcelona on Saturday May 12th). I am thinking of spending 2 nights in Besalu and one night in Pals and then head back to Barcelona. My question is A) does that sound like a good dose and combination of small midevil towns. B) I am NOT driving so what is the way to get to these towns ( if train is at all available I prefer that and/or a bus and C) I know this can be personal preference but do you reccomend 2 days in Besalu and one in Pals or the other way around?? Thank you in Advance for any pointers > Mark

I don't know anything about hostels, but booking.com often has listings for rooms in hostels, and there are lots of reviews to peruse.

I haven't been to Pals, but Wikipedia indicates it's about the same size as Besalu, both having populations between 2400 and 2600 people. I am not remotely interested in nightlife (except things like theatre), but I can't really imagine spending the night in a place that small. I'd prefer Girona, which has a large medieval district but all the features of an urban environment. However, it doesn't sound as if that's what you're looking for. Two nights, though, is a long time if you get bored. And you really don't have much time in Barcelona.

There is bus sevice from Girona to Besalu: Teisa-Bus. As Enric reported on an earlier thread, there's service all the way from Barcelona as well: Teisa-Bus.

For Pals you can take the train through Girona to Flaca and switch to a bus (may be infrequent), or you can take a bus all the way from Barcelona. Look up bus schedules here.

The Rome2Rio.com website is good for digging into situations like this when you suspect train service isn't going to cut it. You can't believe R2R's fares or travel times, but it usually will provide the name of the appropriate bus company, and often a linkt to the company's website.

It would be nice for the occasional recognition that it’s not a completely US centric world we live in.

Pensio 2000 is probably in your price range, very comfortable and very good location, across the street from the Palau de la Musica, a 5-minute walk to Plaza de Catalonia.
