Can Alhambra Tickets Be Easily Resold

We purchased 2 tickets for the Alhambra General tour online. Easy enough, other than the one day we plan go, they were already sold out for the morning session (which we preferred), with only the afternoon session free, and with a late(r) time slot for the Nastrid Palaces. We still booked them, since better late than not at all. I then discovered that if we wanted to go to Rodriguez-Costa Foundation and the Alhambra we should have considered purchasing that tour..the price difference is negligible and it sounds interesting as well. Here's the kicker ~ on the day we can go, they do still have morning sessions for it the Foundation-Alhambra tour, along with then an early slot for the Nastrid Palaces. We're inclined to buy those tickets and chalk the added expense up to "operator error," especially if it allows us to do other non-Alhambra touring for the 2 days we're in Granada. So ~ we can't get a refund on the Alhambra General tour tickets we already bought. Any idea if after we pick them up we can perhaps easily re-sell them to someone who's on-site and still in need of tickets?

Jeff,
That's a good question.
I know when we were picking up our tickets back in October, there were many disappointed tourists that could not find tickets, because they were completely sold out.

You could call the Alhambra ticket office & explain your dilemma. They may be able to help you out or give you some ideas.

You may also call the hotel, where you will be staying (some hotels sell tickets), & ask if they can buy them from you.

Enjoy your trip & make sure you try the delicious ice cream at 'Los Italianos'!

Edit: BTW, the tickets do not have your names printed on them & one is not required to show any ID to enter the Alhambra.
Thus tickets may be transferable, but I don't know the rules they may have about this issue.

You will, however, need to have the same credit card used to purchase the tickets, in order to collect/print your tickets in Andalucía.

Hi Priscilla,
Thanks for all the information. Very helpful! Based on your suggestion we reached out to the Alhambra today. It was almost near the end of day for them, but we did manage to get someone on the phone. He was very pleasant, and spoke English (though my husband is fluent in Espanol, via his Cuban heritage...after all these years I am still NOT), but had to transfer us to client services after hearing the scenario. No one picked up there (likely either helping someone else or already closed), so we'll try them again tomorrow. Regardless, it looks like we will get the other tickets and hopefully figure it out in some way, even if we just start off a pay it forward and give the initial pair we bought to someone right there who is otherwise thinking they're not going to be able to go. I can see being disappointed in missing the chance to visit...it looks truly amazing! And once we're in Granada, we'll make sure to follow your tip on Los Italianos, too. Always up for a good ice cream!

You are most welcome! I like your attitude... "Pay it forward" is a great idea!

The Alhambra bookstore staff are very helpful & friendly.

I too speak Spanish & have ancestral roots in Spain, so will hopefully go back again in the near future ;-)

Jeff,

I have good news for you! Or for anyone else who finds themselves in a similar situation.

I decided to send an email to the Alhambra bookstore the other day after reading your post, & I just received their reply earlier this morning.

Here it is:

Buenas tardes,

Hi Priscilla,

WoW! Thanks for all the great leg work on this. So gracious and thoughtful. Really appreciate it! And sorry for my delay in responding...the proverbial 4 letter word...WORK! ;) Anyway, I had emailed the Alhambra (not sure where) over the weekend as well and they had referred me to an email address at legal@ticketmaster.es, who ultimately never replied. I just called the number you were provided, which was also to TicketMaster. I got someone on the phone easily and quickly and all is now in order with the cancellation of the pair of tickets initially purchased in error; we had already bought the correct tickets just to secure the day/session slot. Thanks again for your help with this. Hope you make it back to Spain...and soon! I also have ancestry there...I'm an American melting pot "baby" with ancestry from 5 European countries. My mother's maiden name is Menendez and our family (my great-great grandparents as adults with my great grandparents as small children) came from the northern part of Spain, a town called Aviles in Asturias, during the Ellis Island immigration wave in the late 1800's. I've had family members visit there since, where we still have very far-flung relatives. It was just too much for us to see this trip given everything else we want to do, so I too hope to return some day. But for now, just looking forward to getting there the first time. ;) Have a great day!

Jeff,
I'm so glad it all worked out for you!
I find it so interesting when people know about their ancestry roots.
Unfortunately, all I know is that my paternal great-grandparents came from Spain (in the 1800's) & settled in México.
I never met my paternal grandparents because they'd passed away long before I was born.
It's a shame that my father (who was a teen when his parents passed) & his sister didn't have much information about their family tree...

Have a wonderful trip!
