We are trying to decide whether to hike the Camino de Santiago via the Frances or Primitivo route. We will likely do it the week before Easter taking 6-8 days. We are all strong walkers. I'd like for the trip to be scenic, but also want there to be sufficient historic value. Recommendations?
The primitive Camino meets up with the French Camino in Melide, so the last three stages are the same whichever you choose. When I walked the French Camino from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela I did it in five days. Some people opt for shorter walking days so take longer overall. Because I really like Lugo and its Roman wall that goes around the town, I’d choose the Primitive route.
At pilgrim.es you can look at stages for both routes with stage distances along with elevation profiles. That might help you decide.
