Caminito del Rey in winter (January)

Is anyone able to advise what the Caminito del Rey is like in January weather wise? I know it will be far less busy, but I'm wondering if there is more likely to be adverse weather making it difficult or unpleasant, or if it would still be fine to do with decent warm clothing.
In summer I see it's recommended to get tickets well in advance, but for January could we wait until a couple of days before to see a weather forecast and then book quite easily? Thanks

I'll be there in January too and have wondered this as well. I hope we get some answers from someone in the know since this hike it something I'm really looking forward to.

Hi Cazz,
I can’t speak for January weather but I can for this past February. I did the hike leaving from Malaga about 10:00 am. It was a beautiful, sunny mid-60’s day in Malaga. It’s just under an hour drive up into the mountains to the trailhead. Many in the group were dressed for Malaga weather but the elevation and wind in the exposed area put a definite nip in the weather. I was comfortable with a velour Columbia zip up and good scarf as an extra layer. I still wore my Keen hiking sandals so it certainly wasn’t Artic. Just bring an extra layer for the earlier hours of the day.
Www.timeanddate.com will give you exact historical weather info for pretty much anywhere. Check it out. Cheers.

Oh great, thanks for the reply! Happy to dress in warm layers, just didn't want to be on those walkways in bad weather. We will be going on our way between Granada and Ronda, so I guess if the weather is ok in Granada it should be reasonable in the mountains.
Was it fairly busy in February? Just wondering if we can leave it till a couple of days before to book our tickets once we know what the weather is like.

For anyone who wants to know - we are just back from Spain and had an absolutely wonderful trip, and loved the Caminito del Rey. We were there on 3 January, and the weather was cool but blue skies and sunny, absolutely perfect. And it was very busy, apparently up until 7 Jan is high season and then it drops right down.

It´s high season because our big day for presents is Jan 6, the Three Wise Men (or Three Magic Kings) arrive in their camels to deliver their presents and Jan 5 there´s huge parades in every town. Jan 6 is a day for a big 3 Kings family meal and the "roscón de Reyes". Christmas season in Spain lasts longer than in other countries, then Jan 7 it´s business as usual again.
