Getting ready for our trip to Madrid next month. We plan to visit the Palace and will likely need a break and or meal. Rick's book mentions a cafeteria in the upstairs over the ticketing building. I searched the internet to see if I could get a menu and came upon information there WASN'T a cafeteria so eat before you come. Has anyone been there recently that could confirm one way or the other? I checked the official website but did not see anything about food. Although I am seriously tech challenged.
Thanks so much.
The closest I found online was the seasonal La Terraza del Campo del Moro in the gardens, not right at the palace.
As a number of sites state, there is no cafeteria at the palace itself, so eat before you arrive.
We were in Madrid last year, and there is a cafe over the ticketing building of the Royal Palace. There's not a lot of selection as I recall, but it is there. From what I recall, it's not like a restaurant. It's just a little cafe with soft drinks and a few snacks. Not good for a meal.
Thank you both! It sounds like we could get a little something but best to be prepared not expect a full restaurant meal. I.m not sure if the garden restaurant will be open in April (not super high volume of tourists yet) but if it is, we might step in. Viewing the garden in April sounds like an excellent idea!
I was at the palace today and asked about the cafe. I was told it closed and is now an information booth.
We really enjoyed the palace. Stunning inside.
When we exited the palace, there was a little coffee cart to the right of the cathedral. Had just a few pastries.
Thank you Carrie! I really appreciate your checking on that for me! We shall go prepared to not have a break with food and look forward to finding your nice place when we finish!
