Cadiz to Vejer De La Frontera

I’ve stayed in Vejer de La Frontera on two occasions, but previously arrived by car.

Whist in Cadiz later this year we are considering a day trip, not usually day trippers, but would like dine at El Jardin del Califa again.

Comes buses travel from Cadiz to Vejer.

There are various topics relating to this, some mention the bus drops you at the bottom of the hill, below the hill town, and you need to find taxi to reach the center. It’s a steep climb. Other reviews mention the bus drops you in the center of Vejer.

This is the information I’ve gleaned, as below.
Vejer has two bus stops, one is La Barca de Vejer which is on the N-340 from Malaga to Cadiz. It is 1.5 km from the town of Vejer, you can take a taxi from here to the town which costs approximately 6€. The other bus stop is in town, next to the Tourist office and about a 5 minute walk to the old town.

Has anyone travelled between Cadiz and Vejer De La Frontera by Comes bus and where did the bus drop you off?

Thank you

I made that bus trip in 2019, and there was no long uphill walk required. I must have been dropped somewhere in town. I'm sorry I don't remember the details.

If you get down from the bus at La Barca de Vejer there is a great place to eat right at the crossroads: VENTA PINTO. Their bocadillo of lomo en manteca makes me swoon!!! About 4 euro. The place is much less touristed than La Califa. There's a bar and dining areas where you can select from a full menu. Its a typical venta of the old school..

Thank you both.

I guess I’ll find out when I book the Comes bus, which I’ll do whilst in Seville.

If I have to disembark at the bottom of the hill it won’t be a hardship dining at Venta Pinto. Which looks heavenly.

We might spend the night in Vejer and stay at the quirky Hotel Calif.
