I'm thinking of incorporating a day trip to Cadiz from Sevilla. We're staying in Sevilla less than a week, and thought that this would be a good option. Is it worth going there for the day, versus somewhere else near Sevilla? Are there standout things to see or eat in Cadiz? Thanks for your help.
Answers will vary, but whether it’s worth a day trip is a personal opinion.
To me Cádiz is worth a day at most. Others have spent a week there and had a great time. It doesn’t have any wow sites like Sevilla, but does have a nice cathedral. There are beaches and nice park to walk along and through. It is less hectic than many other places and pleasant to walk around.
Time of year and weather could be a factor on how much you enjoy yourself.
If you had a rental car and the trip isn’t during the winter, I’d suggest Zafra, Castle Nogales, Castillo de Feria s. XV, and Jerez de los Caballeros.
Thanks, Jaime. That sounds really nice. We'll be in Sevilla in April, between Santa Semana and the Feria, as to get around the crowds. Cadiz might be a nice option for laid-back, and less of an itinerary.
I added a little to my previous response. April is a nice time of year there. It’s not too warm or cold. When I lived across the bay from Cádiz, in Rota, I used to go to Jerez de la Frontera for Senana Santa activities.
Jerez de last Frontera could be another option especially if you wanted to take a sherry bodega tours.
I did read some about Jerez de la Frontera, and will consider it. Thanks. I don't know that we'd need to go for the sherry bodegas, but will look into it again. Glad to know the time of year would be okay to visit Cadiz.
I'd also consider Sanlucar.
But will you have a car?
I'm trying to not have a car, TBH. If we did, I'd rent one for the day from Seville. I was thinking just to take the train to Cadiz.
Cordoba over Cadiz, hands down.
Agreed, mml. We're staying in Cordoba for 3 days right before Seville.
