For our upcoming family trip we might try to get tickets to a soccer game in either Cadiz or Almeria. Has anyone been to either city? Anything we should know?

I’m not certain what you’re looking for. How long you intend on staying in either of those places and where you’ll be before and after will affect responses.
My question is whether the soccer matches are in the cities, or provinces, of Cádiz and Almería? That makes a huge difference.
Cádiz city gets many more tourists, is long and narrow as it is on a peninsula, and has beaches. For nearby day trips you can take a ferry to Rota or Puerto de Santa María, or go over the Jerez de la Frontera. Sevilla is just over an hour away as is Arcos de la Frontera.
Almeria city is in a part of Spain seldom visited by tourists from the U.S. It has a nice market and its Alcazaba is very impressive and worth a couple hour visit. Nearby is the Acueducto de los Veinte Ojos (aqueduct of twenty eyes), and Tabernas Desert, Europe’s only natural desert. Granada is about two hours away. There are also beaches nearby.
