We have a one day cruise stop in Cadiz (8am-4pm), mid April. Have researched but looking for personal feedback regarding must see/do. Not at running speed, leisurely please. Any recommendations for walking tours and/or guides? Thanks in advance
Cádiz has nothing that I consider a must see site. It has a cathedral, beach, and a nice park to walk around. The town center is nice, but in my opinion, not anything special.
To me, Cádiz is worth a half day, but others feel it deserves much more time.
I enjoyed walking around the city on my day of the cruise. A pleasant low cost day
The Torre Tavira has a camera obscura, which is worth a visit

The museum is great, and small enough not to be overwhelming. It covers the history of the city, reported to be the oldest in Europe. There is also a Roman theatre near the cathedral, if you are interested archaeology.
It's a very pleasant city for wandering--both in the center and along the sea.
You could also take a ferry to visit one of the sherry bodegas in El Puerto Santa Maria...

I enjoyed lunch or snacks at the bar of the restaurant EL FARO. They are well known for their shrimp fritters, but they also offer many other dishes--strong on seafood. Very cozy spot. Go into the door of the bar, not the restaurant around the corner.

This little restaurant/bar has tons of atmosphere; inexpensive (often crowded) spot for tapas or snacks.

The city is famous for its fried fish, and there are many places that sell all kinds of fried fish and shellfish. Not just the shrimp fritters,, found all over, but lots of other seafood. If you are interested, you could look up restaurants like these:
EL ADOBO/BAR PACO
FREIEDURA LAS FLORES
CASA PEPE
Ekscrunchy’s idea about taking the ferry to Puerto de Santa María is a good one. There’s also a small castle there where Ferdinand and Isabela supposedly gave Columbus the funds for one of his voyages. You’d need to check its hours.
If deciding to take the ferry, be cognizant of the weather, since the ferry stops running if the bay waters get too rough or it gets too windy. When that happens buses will run to Cádiz, but there’s no guarantee you’d make it back before your ship departs.
