buying Renfe tickets Seville to Madrid, how to ensure seats together?

I am on the site, pretty straightforward, but I chose a Promo+ fair as it stated somewhere that this would allow me to choose seats -- price went from ~ 47E to 51E, put in all the passenger names and info (four of us) then the next box states seats "automatically assigned", and I can't click the "pick seats" option. Can anyone help with this? My kids don't want to sit randomly.

Thanks --- Sara

When I chose the "promo fare" is indicates "no choice of seats" ( Sin elección de asiento)

You need to choose a 'flexible' fare to get seat choice

I can't help with how to select seats but when we bought our tickets, the system automatically seated us together side by side for all 3 train trips. I had read somewhere that this was the case. So I understand the concern but I don't think it's a problem. And we bought the cheapest fare available.

Sara,

Unfortunately you cannot choose your seats with Promo+ Tickets, only with "Flexible" (full priced) tickets.

Another option for you would be to book the "Mesa 4" or Table for 4 tickets which are 4 seats together, with the configuration of 2 seats facing each other with or without a table in between the seats.

Once you've selected your departure and destination, you will get to the screen with the train schedules. You can check the box "Table" on the very bottom of the "FILTER" ( column to the left of the train schedules).

Unfortunately, there are no more "Tables" available for July 8 ( this is the date you gave on another post).

There are "Tables" available on this route for the month of August and beyond.

Keep in mind that one can book AVE tickets 60- 90 days in advance, and "Tables" do sell out.

I've only traveled with one other person, and when I did book our Promo tickets online, we did get two seats next to each other.

I know this is not a helpful answer to you but hopefully it will benefit someone else.

Enjoy your time in Spain!

P.S. One other option is to call Renfe's Customer Service and ask if you will get 4 seats adjacent to each other when booking Promo or Promo+ tickets.

Don't worry, the system will allocate all of you together, even with random assignment.

With good discounts still available, it likely means that the train car is not yet very full, so the computer will probably be successful in its attempt to seat you together. However, I might be willing to pay more if you find that seats around a table for 4 can be selected.
