Buying ALSA bus tickets from Granada to Madrid

We will be traveling from Granada to Madrid mid October on our way home and wanted to pre-book ALSA bus tickets. Having read many forums on this and having tried the ALSA site as well as a Movelia site with little success had a few questions:

1) Has anyone used The "Busbud" site to purchase bus tickets in Spain (have read mixed reviews)

2) I will be flying into Madrid, so can I purchase bus tickets somewhere in Madrid for the return trip

Appreciate any feedback/guidance.

Not very clear to me, sorry.
Are you saying all you want is two tickets as singles Madrid to Granada and return or a return ticket from Madrid to Granada?

You can book your bus tickets on the ALSA site but only 1-2 weeks in advance.

If you want to get an idea of the bus schedules, you can check by using a date within a week from today's date & by choosing the same day of the week you plan to travel.

You can certainly buy your bus tickets when you arrive in Madrid or Granada.

Another option is to take the train from Granada to Madrid. The railways around Granada are presently undergoing renovation work.
If you choose this option, you'd travel by bus from Granada's train station to Antequera station, where you'd transfer to an AVE train for the rest of the journey to Madrid.

Have you booked your Alhambra tickets already?
If not, you really need to do that ASAP.

Enjoy your trip!

Simply buy and print direct with www.alsa.es paying by paypal. I do knot know why Priscilla thinks they are only available a short time in advance, look to the website and buy them now.

What other cities do you plan to visit before Granada?

You can also buy your bus tickets at the bus station of any of the cities served by ALSA, such as Córdoba or Sevilla.

If you're planning to visit Córdoba via train, you can easily buy your ALSA bus tickets there, since the bus station is located across the street from the train station :-)

Hope this helps!

I stand corrected, thanks Neil!

ALSA is one of the largest bus Companies in Spain & one can book tickets way in advance.

I don't know what I did wrong, but when I attempted to check the schedules for October 13,(prior to writing my reply) I got an odd message, but I just checked again & there are certainly bus schedules for October, November & even for December.

We actually took the bus from Córdoba to Granada (last October), but we just bought our tickets at the bus station in Córdoba.

Appreciate everyone's feedback. I can see the schedule actually and tried to buy, but receive an error message given the US credit card. Others have also had similar issues when trying to purchase from the US with credit card or Paypal.

Great to know I can buy tickets from any city serviced by ALSA. I will be going to Córdoba beforehand , so buying tickets there that is a great suggestion.

Thanks to everyone!

I found the ALSA ticket-vending machines easy to use. You can switch the language to English and print out the schedule if you like. I was able to use my US credit card (no PIN).
