Buses in Arcos de la Frontera and Ronda

Hi all. I've been reading all the posts/threads here on travel in Andalucia. Looks like many of us will be traveling around there this March. I've been to Andalucia quite a number of times in the past 10 years (including studying in Sevilla twice), so I already know where I want to go and when. However, I have a specific question about buses in Ronda and Arcos de la Frontera. Can I get to Arcos from Ronda and then from Arcos to Sevilla by bus? I can't seem to come up with info when I go to any of the online bus sites. Is it because they are such local buses that they don't have their schedules on any online sites? Or maybe they just don't have information online yet? (We are traveling in March.) I don't mind waiting to buy my bus tickets, but I don't want to make hotel reservations until I am sure that I can actually get to Arcos and then on to Sevilla. Thanks so much for any info anyone can give me.

During our early planning of our trip, we were going to stay in Arcos before traveling to Seville. You can take a regional bus from Arcos to Jerez (4 per day) and then catch a train from Jerez to Seville . There are also local from Arcos to Seville, but through this forum and advice from the hotel we were going to stay -they are sporadic, not always timely and the bus ride is long. We decided it would be quicker and more dependable to take a bus to Jerez-train to seville
Hope this helps!

Cathy,

There is a Comes bus that travels from Ronda to Arcos de la Frontera but it does not run an a daily basis.

There is a Los Amarillos bus that travels from Arcos de la Frontera to/from Sevilla.

Your best bet is to follow Denise's advice above; take the train from Sevilla to Jerez de la Frontera, then a bus to Arcos.

So your route will look something like this:

Ronda to Sevilla (via Los Amarillos bus) then train to Jerez, then Los Amarillos bus to Arcos de la Frontera.

To return to Sevilla, you will reverse this route.

I'm sure others will chime in & suggest renting a car if you want to visit the Pueblos Blancos in Andalucía, as this will give you more flexibility & freedom; but I cannot help you there, since I've not rented a car in Spain.

Keep in mind that you cannot buy bus tickets for, 'Los Amarillos', more than a couple of weeks in advance.

Enjoy Spain!

Thanks for the responses. It looks like it will work. Great! Now we can stay a night in Ronda and then a night in Arcos de la Frontera before heading to Sevilla.

I spent 2 days in Ronda a couple of summers ago and fell in love with it. I hiked all over the big ravine that is there and climbed around all sort of interesting places in the old town. I said that I wanted to go back some day with my husband, so I am excited to be able to do that this March. Antequera and Arcos de la Frontera will be new experiences for me, however. So I am also looking forward to going there.

Cathy,
I'm glad that it will work for you!

Did you have any trouble changing the date on the Comes bus website? It seems to be a hit & miss problem when I've tried it.

Have a wonderful trip!

Edit to add...

Keep in mind that the Comes bus only travels Ronda >> Arcos on Monday - Friday. So there aren't any buses on the weekend.

Earlier the Comes website didn't work for me, but when I tried it a little while ago it seemed fine.

Fortunately we will be traveling midweek, so we should be ok with the The Ronda-Arcos bus. Thanks for the info, though!
