Bus/train from Granada to Sevilla

Hello seasoned travelers - this forum is terrific. The rest of our trip is booked, just need input on getting from Granada to Sevilla on a Monday in October. It looks like Alsa bus is the way to go - 3 hours, direct, on a Supra bus. Do you know if this bus has a WC? It's important to one of our travelers to have facilities on a trip of this length. Also - does Alsa take US credit cards? Or must you use PayPal.

Alternatively, what about rail? I think you must change trains somewhere but not sure.

Appreciate your great input, as always. Ultrea!!

We took a bus. It was totally fine, but I am not sure about a WC. It will list out the 'amenities' available on your route/bus when booking. The bus option was preferable to us bc it did not involve a transfer, I believe it was cheaper and took the same amount of time. I booked directly on alsa.com and used AmEx. It was easy.

Yes they have toilets. I will be taking the bus - the cheap one at 5.75 euros - as not interested to transfer.

Still no end in sight for the train all the way. You would buy the Renfe ticket Granada to Seville and go to the train station. There they put you on a bus to Antequera then shepherd you and your luggage to the train for the rest of the way. Seamless and on time.
One note is that the train station is closer to down town than the bus.

Is the Renfe train from Granada to Sevilla a direct train? I'm on that site, it says 3 hr 19 min, for 31 euros. Where would they bus you?

thanks!

As Maria wrote, the trains to Granada only go as far as Antequera, because of upgrade work on the tracks between Antequera and Granada. From there Renfe supplies dedicated bus service to/from the Granada train station. The travel time shown on Renfe is from when the bus pulls out of Granada until the train arrives in Sevilla (or vice versa).

Although the bus station in Granada is a bit further out, it is well connected by local buses into the central area - and eventually by the metro whenever that opens.

Both Supra economy and the regular kind usually have an on board lavatory.

We did the train trip last Friday. The train station in Granada was 15 min taxi ride from Plaza Nuevo ( much closer than the Granada Airport). At the train station there was a bus with the train number on it. Tickets and passports wer checked at the station and we boarded. The bus ride was about 1 hour and 20 min and then we transferred at the Antequerra Santa Anna station. Tickets wer not checked, but all luggage had to go through a x ray machine. The train was waiting for us at the track. Short train - only3 coaches. Not super fast, peak speed on the in coach monitor was 157 km per hour.

Thanks for everyone's input. I purchased the Supra Economy bus tickets without a hitch using a US Visa card. After reading about the "rail" ticket requiring a transfer from a bus to a train, it seemed far better to take a direct bus.
