Seeing you have to change stations en route if using the train , bus seems a better option. Both seem to take 4-5 hours I think. Which is the best bus line to take ? There seem to be big differences in fares for the same day, is there a reason for this? Planned for mid Sept this year.....

I have taken the bus from Santiago to Porto and found it to be really easy as well as faster, more direct and cheaper. The price has to do with demand I think, just like trains have different prices at different times of the day.

Thank you. Would you remember the bus co. you used (Flix , Alsa, etc. ) ?

It was in 2018, so it may have been Alsa. They are pretty much all the same as far as service, so pick one out that matches your time schedule and price.
