Investigating potential daytrips from Burgos. We're somewhat limited in that we are train dependent (although we might consider a bus if isn't too long or infrequent). I'm eyeing the town of Palencia and am curious if anyone has visited and can offer thoughts. The archeology museum, though small, looked particularly interesting.
If not Palencia, any other suggestions for train-based daytrips from Burgos?
You might want to look into visiting Atapuerca.
They have a museum in Burgos which then has a shuttle to the excavation site.
I haven’t spent any time in Palencia so can’t comment on it. Either León or Zamora would be nice day trips.
I have taken the bus in Burgos and it is quite nice. I wouldn't write it off, and the buses go to small towns that the trains don't go to.
The cathedral in Palencia is beautiful but that I is all I know of the town. I like archeology, so would maybe head to Atapeurca. Perhaps Castrojerez? Not sure it that is too far to go or not.
