Bullfighting tickets - Sevilla

Has anyone purchased bullfighting tickets from the official website (TaquillaOfficial.com) referenced in Rick’s Spain Book?

I purchased two shaded tickets on 6/8/25 and received a confirmation email indicating that our tickets would be sent one week prior to the event on September 26, 2025.

This is our first trip to Sevilla, so please do not protest this post.

Personally I would buy the tickets on site. Our experience (two) is that they were only about half full each time. And get the in-shade ticket. AND --- do not leave your seat while bull is in the arena. That is considered very, very impolite and I didn't know that!!

We experienced a bullfight in Madrid. It was very interesting and an experience I’m glad we attended.
We reserved tickets online, with info from Rick’s book, and picked them up in the city the day before.

Thanks Frank and Barbara, I purchased these shaded tickets from the “official” website as referenced in Rick Steves Spain book, so I will continue to wait for the digital (.pdf) tickets.

I’ll also remember to stay seated through bullfight! :-)

There shouldn’t be any issues. Like Frank, I always bought tickets the day of the fight at the venue and never had an issue getting a ticket.

As an fyi, throughout the couple hours course of the fights (3 matadors each fighting two bulls), the sun will change direction. Even though you bought shade tickets, by the end of the fight you may end up in the sun, so take a hat with you if necessary.

Buy onsite is easy. And, make sure you get a pillow to sit on. Thye will be renting those. Otherwise, a very hard surface.

Just an FYI, in Madrid the Spanish dress for the evening at the fight. Suits, ties, hats. Even the young boys had on jackets. The women were dressed up too. We obviously did not have dressy clothes but wore our travel best.

@ Barbara to be sure, I went to Plaza das Ventas in 2022 and many people were dressed up. But just as many were dressed casually, so there's no need to be dressed to the nines.

Never went to a fight that started in the evening, but in all the fights I’ve been to, I never dressed up.

@barbara - maybe the fight you attended was special for some reason, e.g., a festival. It was probably nice seeing people all dressed up. It definitely wasn’t like that when I went to my last fight in Madrid in 2007.
