Bull rings- Seville and Ronda

We will be in Seville for 4 nights and Ronda for 2 nights in April.
We’d like to visit a bull ring, trying to decide which would be better to visit- Seville or Ronda- or are they both worth a visit? Don’t mind doing both as long as not too repetitive/same.

Thanks

Double check the schedules. I thought the bull fighting was only in the Spring so you would be in good shape but see the schedule. Bull fighting is very repetitive. We saw a program in Madrid. After three bulls -- the score was one win each and a draw. Unfortunately with a draw or even with the win the bull still loses. For us it was a one time experience.

Both are historically significant, so it's probably a tossup. Maybe read up on the exhibits and history of each to see if one appeals more, cross reference with your other plans (when in Ronda, I like to get outside into the countryside and hike). I toured the one in Ronda and found it interesting--maybe it is the setting that appealed to me, as I never considered going into the one in Sevilla.

Considering I am no fan of bullfighting, it is odd that I have visited both bullrings. The Sevilla ring is nearly three times the size of the Ronda ring. Both have museums, both have extensive history and both are worthy of a visit if the visitor is attracted to the event.
If I were to pick one, it would be Ronda - mostly because there is so much to see and do in Sevilla, time is always compromised by a visit to that magnificent city. Ronda is cool, too - but with far fewer attractions.

We didn’t go to the bullring in Sevilla because we had plenty to do there, but we did go into the museum and walk out into the bullring in Ronda. Since it’s in the vicinity of other things we were doing in Ronda, it was a good use of that option. I enjoyed seeing the displays but agree with blue439 on seeing an actual event.

I believe the OP only wants to visit a bullring, not go to a bullfight. However, there are a couple fights on Easter Sunday in Sevilla. There are fights in other towns throughout April. Link to the bullfight schedule. One thing about bullfights, you either like them or hate them. Few people are in the middle.

The rings will both be pretty much the same, so it really wouldn’t make much of a difference which you went to. The best bullring tour I went on was in Pamplona as one got to visit some locations (medical facility, chapel, etc.) that many tours don’t allow be to visited. The ring in Ronda is widely considered to be the oldest in Spain, constructed between 1780-1785, but Sevilla also claim’s its is the oldest.

If only interested in a bullfight museum, the one in Córdoba was very good and not overly large, so didn’t take forever to see. It does have some free entrance house.

No interest in a bullfight, just visiting the ring and museum
Ronda was our first thought as we’ll have so much else to see/do in Seville.
