Bull fighting in Madrid?

We will be in Madrid around the dates of June 25-28. Wondering if the bull fights go through the month of June? I know the festival will be finished by then. My husband would really like to see a bull fight...me, maybe not so much.

There is only one day available during that timeframe, June 26. You can buy tickets online before your trip. Personally, there is nothing that would convince me to want to go, but people have different tastes.

It is not one bullfight, it will likely be six, twenty to thirty minutes long. Both of you may want to view footage on youtube six times over and do some research. I have seen many of your compatriots leave after the first or second 'fight' upset by what they have seen and on a couple of occasions physically sick, but then again that might be with the heat or stench. Save your money and spend it seeing flamenco or on a good tapas crawl.

I agree with Neil and his suggestions...

Thank you everyone. I agree...I will not be going to a bull fight. He seems to think it is iconic and so then a must do. He might be on his own.

How about checking out the Bullfighting Museum? You can still partake in the history and culture without actually going to see a live bull fight.

Hi Kholl, if your husband really wants to see a bullfight, and you might like to see some fiesta, go to Burgos. The fiestas de Burgos, San Pablo y San Pedro, are the 25-29th of June.

I've never been in Madrid during San Isidro, so I don't know if the peña have a parade through the streets going and coming from the bullring. In Burgos yes.

A few years ago, the son of friends of my parents came to visit. He had just finished high school, and was on his eurotrip before starting the University. He wanted to see a bullfight, so we went to see one in Burgos. We bought some tickets from a scalper. While the bullfight was a "cultural" thing, one of the biggest culture shock for him was when the people sitting next to us pulled out their bota bag and passed it around. The poor kid was like "I can't drink wine I public, I'm only 18, I'll get busted." Needless to say, by the fourth time the bota went by he was a pro drinking from it.

We are in Barcelona and headed to Madrid in a few days. No decision on the bull fighting yet...
