Booking Train Tickets - Is It Time to Panic?

I have checked daily for over two months to book train tickets for our itinerary and have been mostly successful in booking them. I used loco2.com for all of them except one, which only showed up on Renfe, so I used Renfe for that one.

Now I am down to the last two legs: Granada to Ronda on June 3 and Ronda to Sevilla on June 4. I have tried all the websites mentioned by The Man in Seat 61, with no result. The Renfe site says they are not available for sale. Should I continue to check daily, or is the bus a good option between these places? My preference is train if available.

Don't panic! And don't forget your towel! ;-)

Granada - Ronda is replaced by bus because of engineering works. You never really needed to book ticket for this relation, since few people travel by train on this route and fares are fixed for the train categories(MD, Regional) running this route. The fares are relatively cheap as they come and they don't get cheaper if you book in advance.

Ronda - Sevilla is a roundabout route by train, the bus is more direct and faster.

Between Ronda and Sevilla, coach is better. The company is probably either Los Amarillos or Damas. They may not be selling tickets yet as far out as June, but you can see the timetable by doing a dummy booking for next week.

For Granada to Ronda, if the rail tickets aren't showing then they probably haven't been loaded yet. Keep checking back. There won't be many services each day and there's no need to book far in advance. If there's a bus replacement service for part of it, don't worry. You still buy the train ticket and use the railway stations, it'll be sorted out for you be Renfe.

I think they're likely to become available to buy closer to your travel dates; on the Renfe website it looks like they are only available for the next two weeks.

That being said, the little red exclamation point also mentions that the Granada - Ronda journey will take place on a bus, which makes me think there's probably some kind of construction happening, so you might buy a train ticket only to end up on a bus anyhow!

For Ronda - Sevilla, I'm thinking it might be more direct to also do a bus. While I haven't ridden one in several years, I remember the Spanish bus system being quite a bit nicer than what I was used to in the States.

Looking at the schedule on the Bahn, it seems both of those connections use regional trains. In Germany, with which I am familiar, I almost never book regional trains in advance, because there are no reserved seats and no discount for advance purchase. I just buy tickets at the counter or automat on the day of travel. Also, some regional trains are not bookable online. Could this be the case in Spain, also?

Hopefully, someone familiar with trains in Spain (which run mainly on the plain) can answer that question.

Oh, I guess they already did while I was posting.

I am also looking into trains for Andalucia.
Is bus the best way to get between Malaga and Granada?
Is there a train from Granada to Cordoba in July?

The bus is an excellent means to get from Malaga to Granada
I did it on January 5 2019. It only takes an hour or so.
There is train between Granada and Cordoba.
But the tracks have been construction; RENFE has not announce that is complete yet.
