Booked with Iberia airlines, and last week we were informed that we were switched to Level

We are flying from LAX to Barcelona, then Madrid back to LAX next week. We booked with Iberian Airlines on 12/12/24 for $1453 per person. We paid $39 each for our seat selection so we could sit together. .

We were just informed last week that our airline has been switched to Level, but our flight number and reservation number would remain the same.

My husband called the airlines to ask if we would be served a meal still, and if they would honor our seats. The agent said everything "should" stay the same, but didn't have much confidence in his voice.

Level seems to be even more of a "budget" airline than Iberian. Does anyone know?

Has this switcheroo happed to anyone lately? Did you get a meal? If you paid for your seats, did you still get to keep them?

Thanks!

No personal experience, but see that Level flies a330-200 planes

Iberia has a350, a330-300 and a330-200 planes in its fleet.

It seems possible the seating may be arranged in a different matter, depending on what plane the original Iberia flight was scheduled to use.

We flew from LAX--Barcelona and Madrid to LAX in February. We booked on the Iberia website, understanding that it was LEVEL. We paid for aisle seats next to each other and extra legroom LAX--Barcelona. (not available for flight home). We paid about $1600 each. We were shocked that our outgoing seats were actually in 'first class'--we each had a pod and the seat could be a flat bed! Maybe the plane didn't have other seats in coach with extra legroom. The meals were not 'first class'---they were mediocre. The worst food I've had flying internationally. Fortunately we'd had a light dinner at the airport so we survived! We'd also packed almonds and peanut butter sandwiches (just in case!) but didn't need them. Flying home, we had regular seats on the aisle and more mediocre food. We'd ordered too much food for dinner the night before so we brought our leftovers to supplement the airline food. We had planned to buy sandwiches just in case.
