I want to avoid the hassles of public transportation (especially between Figueres and Cadaques) and I do not want to rent a car. Can people recommend a day tour from Barcelona that they have taken to these towns?
Hi Karen,
My husband and I took the Best of Spain with Morocco in the fall of 2012 - so my information is dated. We arrived a couple days early to Barcelona prior to our tour.
Figueres and Cadaques:
My husband loves all things Dali, so we booked a day-long tour to Figueres and Cadaques through Viator (a consolidator of tours - some people aren't too keen on, but we've taken several through them in different European cities and have been satisfied). If I remember correctly, we arrived at their office around 8:15am although the bus probably didn't leave Barcelona until ~8:45am. At the end of the day, the bus returned after 5pm or thereabouts. We are really glad we took the tour. Learned and saw a lot. The entry into Dali's home was extra (11 euro in 2012) but worth it (if you are really into Dali).
Montserrat:
I wanted to visit Montserrat before our tour. You didn't ask about Montserrat, but we used the information in the RS book and used the Tot Montserrat combo ticket for a day in Montserrat. Again, we left early in the morning, caught the metro, then train to Montserrat; spent the day, then reversed the travel back to Barcelona.
Good Luck!
