Bilbao Restaurant Recommendations for Christmas Eve (December 24)

Hi everyone!

My husband and I will be visiting Bilbao this December and are looking for a restaurant open for dinner on Christmas Eve (December 24).

We’ve contacted quite a few restaurants, but most have told us they’ll be closed. We’d love to find somewhere serving traditional Basque or Spanish food, preferably a place locals enjoy rather than something overly touristy.

We’re open to casual restaurants or a nicer special-occasion dinner, as long as it’s not outrageously expensive.

Has anyone spent Christmas Eve in Bilbao or know of restaurants that might be open? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

This is difficult - traditionallly restaurants are closed on Cristmas Eve, as everyone is home with family.

If you Google "restaurants Bilbao Christmas Eve", a limited selection will come up.

Look at ENEKO BASQUE.

This is a good restaurant and it appears to be taking bookings for 24 December.

Thank you so much for the recommendation! I’ll definitely look into Eneko Basque. I’ve just emailed them to confirm if they’ll be open for Christmas Eve dinner. Fingers crossed! 😊

The reason I suggested it is because it is located in the hotel so maybe more chance of being open on the holiday.

Normally they offer testing and a la carte but this might differ on the holiday.

I didn´t pretend to correct you or to say ENEKO is a bad option, ekscrunchy, just wanted to point out that as a hotel restaurant it´s normally pricey and the Christmas menu (which will probably be the only option available that night, as it´s customary here) will be well over 150eur per person, for sure.
