While I haven't biked in years, as Tucson (AZ) hills are too hard for me, I understand that Seville is very flat, and that their rental city owned bikes are quite the thing...has anyone used them? Any comments on them?
I walk, but 'push bikes in Seville' as a google will surely give what you want including info. on the electric bikes.
Suggest you check out Really Discover Sevilla Tours...they have bike tours!!! A very nice company by the way
Thanks, not into a tour really...but thanks.
And did you follow my suggestion?
Thanks Neil. I did followyour suggestion &and I have written the place I'm staying for their address, as there are week long rentals with the city bike service, which would be better, and I need the address there to set that up. I was wondering, on this forum, if anyone has used those bikes as I would like to know ahead of time how that went, whether they are 'step through' which is all I can handle with one weaker leg...
Also Neil, thanks for the connecting me with the Seville newsletter which I am in the process of looking at...
Hi! I spent 5 months in Seville and we used the Sevicis to get everywhere! The city is flat and really beautiful to bike through. There are very nice paved paths along the river and lots of nice parks, some of which allow you to bike through as well. Use this link to learn more: http://en.sevici.es/ You will have to register to use the bikes but once you get through the initial process- it is simple to rent all over town!
The prices are reasonable and there are spots all over town to return the bikes- especially near popular areas. One tip: make sure your bike is fully locked in/engaged when you return it. Sometimes the lock doesn't click and therefore it isn't properly returned. Wouldn't want a surprise charge for a bike on your card! I hope you enjoy your trip!
Thanks so much, I am wondering whether the Servici's are available to non EU. But this is exactlt the advise I was looking for, mil gracias!
Seville is pretty flat. When we were there in 2012, I can't recall too many people biking or seeing a city owned bike system. It may be I just didn't look for them?
It's not a bad idea. My concern would be the main streets are heavily trafficked, and the Jewish Quarter roads too small, for comfortable biking. There are a lot of roads, off the main roads but not in the old quarter that seem fine for biking around. Placa de Espana is more a series of gardens on an old Expo sight. If bikes are allowed, it seems like the perfect place to bike around.
