I have booked a cabin on a cargo ship leaving from Newark to Valencia Spain.
I will be biking from Valencia north thru Europe for 6 months.

First things, first. Are you a US Citizen? If so, what visa arrangements have you made for your trip? You do know you have to have a visa for a 6 month stay?
